Akins
Mr. David Dwayne Akins, 48, of Fort Payne, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 24, at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alton Vaughn officiating. Burial followed in Black Oak Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Rucks Akins of Fort Payne; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Mark Blalock; sons and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Angela Pope and Dwayne Akins; parents, Robert and Ruby Akins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Wayne Henderson, Rachel and Doug Hill and Lynette and Michael White; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Marlyn Akins, Ronald and Donna Akins and Tim and Sabrina Akinsl; and four grandchildren.
Anderton
Rev. Billy Anderton, 81, of Pisgah, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 22, at Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Young and Truman officiating. Burial followed in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his son, Larry Anderton; daughter, Anita Faye Lawrence; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
His wife, Beatrice Anderton, and son, Billy Anderton, preceded him in death.
Blaylock
Mrs. Dorothy Blaylock, 85, of Ider, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Cloverdale Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 19, at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Chris Guinn and Brad Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Lakewood Memorial Gardens South.
Survivors include her daughters, Myra Thomas and Karen Hughes, both of Ider; sister, Loretta Faye Holland of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Chris, David and Ernie Hughes, Shane and Becky Blaylock, Deidre Dixson, Todd and Brad Thomas; great grandchildren, Tyler, Christen, Jessica, McKenzie, Morgan, Kirt, Ella, Kayla, Chelsey, Tucker and Zane.
Mrs. Blaylock was a member of the Ider Baptist Church.
Goggans
Mr. Terry Goggans, 34, of Rainsville, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 22, at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Haymon officiating. Burial followed in Rainsville Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Faith Goggans of Rainsville; two sons, Taylor Bell of Rainsville and River Goggans of Rainsville; parents, Charlie and Hilda Goggans of Rainsville; one brother, Ricky Goggans of Rainsville; and grandmother, Rose Finch.
Mr. Goggans was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Finch and Issac and Nora Goggans; and one aunt, Elaine Peek.
Harden
Ms. Evelyn Harden, 91, of Henagar, formerly of Florida, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Gadsden Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Survivors include her daughters, Jo Ann Mattson and Pat Kittle of Henagar; sons, Floyd Harden and Ernest Harden; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Herring
Infant Kyler Luke Herring was born and passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 23, at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Mountain View Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his parents, Eric and Delayne Herring of Rome, Ga.; sisters, Prue Callaham of Rome, Ga., and Savanna and Summer Herring, both of Rockmart, Ga; grandmothers, Sherry Wooten of Rome, Ga., and Rebecca Witcher of Goldsboro, N.C.; and great grandmother, Eula Mae Cooper of Fort Payne.
Rowell
Mr. Billy Wayne Rowell, 69, of Fyffe, passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, at his residence.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 22, at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Simmons officiating.
Survivors include daughters, Victoria Yarshan of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Kimberly Mehia of Florida; son, Richard Wayne Rowell of Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and Arthur Brasill of Massachusetts and Brenda and Carmie Pettry of Fyffe; six grandchildren; three nieces; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Drew and Margaret Ann Ridgeway and Thomas and Julia Rowell.
White
Mr. Billy Blake White Sr., 75, of Pisgah, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 19, at Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Randy Crawford of Comfort Care Hospice officiating. Burial followed in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his son, Billy B. White Jr., of Winter Haven, Fla.; daughter, Deborah Kay White of Pisgah; brother, Doyle White of Henagar; sister, Kathleen Powell of Trenton, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents, John Amos White and Epsie Williams White; wife, Inez White; brothers, Howard, Erby, Orbie, Bruce and Roy White; and sisters, Irene Meeks and Gay McClain.
Mr. White was a Korean War veteran and retired from Combustion Engineering with 30 years of service.
Whitten
Mr. Jeff Whitten, 53, of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of the Guest Community, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 21, at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Porter officiating. Burial followed in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Survivors include three aunts, Lula Faye Whitten of Hollywood, Georgia Talley of Scottsboro and Naomi Talley of Stevenson; one uncle, Eugene Harris of the Mount Moriah Community; and a host of cousins.
Mr. Whitten was preceded in death by hisParents, Thurmon and Louise Whitten.
Wooten
Rev. James Buford Wooten, 77, of Red Bay, formerly of this area, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Sundya, Nov. 22, at Rainsville Holiness Church. Burial followed in Green's Chapel with W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Dimple Yvonne Moore Wooten of Red Bay; daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Woody Wooten of Lookout Mountain, Ga., Kathy and Leroy Johnson of Mississippi, Teresa Veal of Tennessee, Priscilla and Tracy Padgett of Fyffe and Deborah and Roger Johnson of Mississippi; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Shannon Wooten of Rainsville, Tim and Linda Wooten and George and Angela Wooten; sister, Ruby Harrison of Tennessee; 21 granchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.
Rev. Wooten was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Ella Wooten; son, Michael Wooten; granddaughter, Katelyn Padgett; and brother, Earl Wooten.
