Tired of eating at the same restaurant and buying the same flowers and chocolate for Valentine's Day?
If so, the DeKalb County Children's Advocacy Center has a show just for you.
"How the West was Fun" is the 16th Annual Dinner Theatre hosted by the center. The show is a musical comedy written by James Seay.
"It's a lot of laughter and good, family fun," said Angela Gwinn of the Advocacy Center.
Seating is limited to about 265 people per show and in past years have sold out most nights. Therefore, the center advises calling ahead to order tickets to reserve your seat.
"We expect a big crowd," said Gwinn, "We hope all seven shows sale out."
And that is another change that some will recognize. In the past, there have only been six shows. However, the demand for tickets and the availability to put on a show the day after Valentine's Day was something the center was glad to have.
Along with the comedy, you will receive a meal, consisting of a salad, grilled chicken with potatoes and green beans with rolls, as well as a dessert to follow.
Tickets are currently on sale and the prices for the front row are $30 per seat. The second row is $25 each. And rows three, four, and five are $20 each.
You can call the Children's Advocacy Center and place you order over the phone with a credit card. Or you can go by the center and place your order. There will be a will call at the show, but you can also go by and pick up your tickets prior to the shows.
The play will take place at the First United Methodist Church's Life Center.
"We would like to thank the church for letting us use their life center," said Gwinn, "We just move in for two weeks and they are gracious to all when we use it."
Show dates are Feb. 11-13, Feb. 15, and Feb. 18-20. All shows will begin at 7:30 with dinner being served beforehand at 6:30. Seating will begin around 5:30 p.m. each night.
