Feb. 4th Obituaries
Bryant
Mr. Medford H. Bryant, 85, of Macedonia, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 28, at Section Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Earl Thompson and the Rev. Randy Crawford officiating. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Louise Brown Bryant of Macedonia; one brother, Durell Bryant of Section; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Mattie Bryant.
Mr. Bryant was a member of Unity Baptist Church and Section Lodge for over 50 years.
Dake
Mr. John Garrison Dake, 54, of the Cartersville community, passed away at his residence on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010. He had multiple system atrophy, a degenerative neurological disorder.
John was the son of Christine Scott Dake of the Cartersville community and the late Paul Garrison Dake. He was born in Roane County, Tenn., and raised in Kingston, Tenn., and Simpsonville, S.C.
He graduated from Hillcrest High School, Simpsonville, S.C., and received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He designed and built his home on Sand Mountain. He was employed by Intech, Inc., of Chattanooga until his retirement on disability in 2007. In his work he traveled extensively within the United States and Canada.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sarah Frances Dake. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Thomas Scott and Judy Dake of Columbia, Tenn., Dr. James David and Doty Dake of Arlington, Va., Robert Samuel and Kay Dake of North Hollywood, Fla., Stephen Paul Dake of Arlington, Va., and Dr. William Austin and Laura Dake of Versailles, Ky.; nieces and their husbands, Amanda Christine Dake and Chris Rowley of Dallas, Texas, Allyson Lovell Dake and John Kingston of New York, N.Y., Julia Christine Dake and Janet Lyn Dake, both of Versailles, Ky.; nephew, James Matthew Dake of Versailles, Ky.; and a great nephew, Thomas Dake Rowley of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 31, at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel in Ider. Burial followed in Beulah Cemetery. His brothers served as pallbearers.
Davis
Mrs. Carolyn Jean Lacy Davis, 71, of Henagar, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Shankles and the Rev. Joe Owens officiating. Burial followed in Concord Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Loyd Davis of Henagar; daughters and sons-in-law, Debrah and Mike Koger, Peggy and Jessie Tatum and Angela and Tim Wertz, all of Henagar; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Christie Davis of Henagar; sister, Linda Smith of Henagar; grandchildren, Jamey Tatum, Amy Tatum, Shane Koger, C.J. Koger, Scott Williams, Allee Wertz and Natalie Davis; and great grandchildren, Tyla Tatum, Hunter Brown, Dylan Brown and Ryan Koger.
Fossett
Mr. Labron Fossett, 57, of Section, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Erlanger Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 1, at Section Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Bluff Cemetery.
Survivors include his father, Hubert Fossett; daughter, Jamie Lynn Fossett of Scottsboro; one son, Teddy Fossett of Langston; three sisters, Judy Lands of Mobile, Suzie Corbitt of Section and Cindy Newsome of Rainsville; and three brothers, Ron Fossett, Benny Fossett and Robin Fossett.
Mr. Fossett was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Fossett; daughter, Stacey Diane Fossett; and brother, Bobby Fossett.
Galloway
Mr. Billy Morton Galloway, 79, of Grove Oak, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Marshall Medical Center South in Boaz.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lambert officiating. Burial followed in New Harmony Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Floyd Galloway; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Tim Rogers and Tammy and Freddie Richey, all of Auburn; sister-in-law, Louise Galloway of Albertville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Dubb Boggs of Remlap and Gayla and Truman Rogers of Albertville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Neal and Betty Galloway of Pell City and Gene and Judy Galloway of Geraldine; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Galloway was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Josie Galloway; and brother, Max Galloway.
Mr. Galloway was a member of the Martin Masonic Lodge No. 869. He was a veteran of the U.S. ARmy, serving his country during the Korean War.
Glover
Mrs. Martha Ann Glover, 73, of Sylvania, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 29, at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Haynes, the Rev. Dan Kirkpatrick and the Rev. Billy Garner officiating. Burial followed in Rainsville Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Glover of Sylvania; four daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie Ann and Larry Busby of Rainsville, Sharon and Dean Byrd of Sylvania, Debbie and LeBron Wofford of Sylvania and Donna and Mitchell Dendy of Sylvania; one brother, Leonard McPherson of Montgomery; to sisters, Sallie Miller of Fort Payne and Brenda Cox of Madison; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Casey and Shane Stiefel, Jess and Brad Bewley, Selena and Wade Sewell, Anna and Derek Freeman, Laura and Luke Pruitt, Sarah Glover, Jerica Dendy, Seth Busby, Paige Dendy and Phillip Dendy; and seven great grandchildren, Hunter Traffanstedt, Matthew Nowak, Promise Bewley, Lauren Bewley, Rachel Bewley, Luke Sewell and Brody Mac Freeman.
Mrs. Glover was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Jessie McPherson.

Mr. James Pearlie Lyons, 88, of Fort Payne, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Crawford officiating. Burial followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Sue Lyons of Fort Payne; son, James Lewis Lyons of Fort Payne; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by his son, Tim Lyons.
Robbins
Mr. Arnold Chester Robbins, 63, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Rainsville, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, in Gainsville, Fla.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 29, at W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Bro. Billy Summerford and Bro. Bill Summerford officiating. Burial followed in New Canaan Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Robbins of Ocala, Fla.; daughter, Rhonda Erickson of Ocala, Fla.; sons, Pete Robbins of Rainsville, Albert Robins of Coca Beach, Fla., and Andrew Robbins of Ocala, Fla.; sisters, Joyce Hickox of Rainsville, Gaynell Robbins of Rainsville and Omie Thigpen of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Donald Robbins of Rainsville, and Charles Robbins, Jerry Robbins and Ricky Robbins, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Gladys Whited Williams, 96, of Trenton, Ga., passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at Memorial Hospital.

Wooten
Mr. Doyle Wayne Wooten, 64, of Fyffe, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at DeKalb Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 1, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Brian Harris and Wayne Wells officiating.
Burial followed in the Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery with W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wooten of Fyffe; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Stacey Wooten of Flintstone, Ga.; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Deon and Gwen Wooten of Bryant, David and Sandra Wooten of Rainsville and Eddie Simpson of Fyffe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Molly and R.C. Black of Rainsville and Kim and Leon Patterson of Fort Payne; brothers and sister-in-law, Waymon Wooten of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Jerry Wooten of Rainsville and Jeff and Jenny Wooten of Sylvania; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
